Benefits to contributors

Contributors to the MAGNet Database enjoy a number of significant benefits, including:

  • The possibility of recouping part or all of the costs of their airborne surveying programme

  • Outsourcing the task of managing their archive of airborne geophysical data,

  • Leaving non-core activities such as geophysical data sales to an agent.
MAGNet sales pay a substantial royalty of $1.00/line km of survey data to the contributor of the survey.

The MAGNet Database offers contributors the option to preserve royalties as MAGNet credits, rather than cash payments. This facility offers exploration divisions the flexibility to retain the royalties arising from data sales for future data purchases or even to commission new surveys.

The benefit of external management of survey data should not be ignored. Data management and sale negotiation for older surveys is a time-consuming and costly drain on the resources available to an exploration group. MAGNet is an ideal vehicle to maintain the data and deal with interested third parties.
